Pick of the Litter

Here at Temple Studio we love all of our clients, but we hold a special admiration for Alfred, Sister and Ruby, the sweet dogs of three wonderful interior designers who brighten our days with their visits.

In a burst of inspiration (and perhaps a touch too much faith in my own sewing abilities), I decided to make each of them a custom dog bed using fabrics from the beautiful collections we showcase here. So, I dusted off my neglected sewing machine, and with my own pups offering their expert supervision, I sewed three cozy beds perfect for our VIP canine clients.

A special thank you to Lake August, Studio Atkinson, and Clare Louise Frost for their generous contribution of gorgeous textiles to this fun endeavor. I'm happy to report that we now have three very pleased furry customers!

ALFRED

HOW LIZZIE MET ALFRED

Alfred came into my life as a 7-year-old rescue. In 2021, I was at a client’s carpet installation (seriously it was a custom Temple Studio stair runner!) and browsing Pet Finder while waiting for the installer to finish. I’d been looking for a dog to adopt for months and each one I’d find would be taken by the time I inquired. I saw him and sent an application right away. Driving home from the install, a friend I’d listed as a reference called to tell me the rescue organization had already reached out to her and I just had this feeling he’d be mine. I picked him up a week later!

Alfred's dog bed was made from Lake August's charming Bettina Fireside Fabric and finished with cream velvet bow details.

SISTER

HOW ERIK MET SISTER

We adopted Sister from her former owner when she was one (she just had her third birthday). This photo is from the day we brought her home—looking back, I can tell she was thinking, “Who are these people?” She’s named after the most legendary Sister of them all: Sister Parish.

Sister's dog bed was made from Clare Louise Frost's earthy yet elevated Palmetto Winter Fabric and finished with matching green velvet bows.

RUBY

HOW SABINA MET RUBY

Ruby found us…at Astoria Park on a cold winter’s day. My senior pup and I were out for a walk when we met her and her foster. From the moment we saw her, she was the sweetest little thing—especially gentle and kind to my older dog.

Just 24 hours later, in the middle of a snowstorm, she came home with us.

We thought we were bringing home a quiet, cuddly girl… but once she settled in, her true colors came out—and she’s been a feisty little firecracker ever since! We joke that we were totally duped, but honestly, we wouldn’t have it any other way.

Studio Atkinson's Kiss Cross Olive Fabric is the perfect match to Ruby's zippy but sweet personality
