Lake August: Snowbrush + Pinegrass

Lake August debuts two new patterns, available in both fabric and wallpaper and printed in the earth-hued, mineral-rich colors of the California mountains.

Designer Alexis Hartman sourced inspiration from learning about plants that flourish after wildfire - an event that is a familiar part of life for native Californians.

The seed of Ceanothus Velutinus, commonly called Snowbrush, requires wildfire to germinate and grow. Traditionally used for connecting us with our deepest resources of spirit and imagination, Snowbrush is a graceful expression of renewal and resilience.

Stands of Pinegrass will actually thrive and multiply on burnt lands and fill a barren space with a blanket of leaves that create shelter and sustenance for wildlife. The undulating movements of this native grass can often look like flames themselves.
