Ready, Set, Roger Oates!

I could be wrong but I think every designer would jump at the chance to do the set design of their favorite television show. Sometimes when new things trickle in, I can't help but relate them back to my favorite shows or movies. For example, if they ever do a remake of The Holiday I sure hope the set design team discovers Salvesen Graham's fabrics to add some more layers of coziness to Kate Winslet's Surrey cottage!

We played a little set design match game with our newest collection of rugs from Roger Oates. Their runners are woven in the UK on specially adapted Hattersley looms using their own specially developed 100% Wool yarn that is spun and dyed in Yorkshire. They install beautifully as stair and hall runners but also look incredibly tailored as seamed wall to wall carpets or larger area rugs. Below is a quick preview of some of our favorites paired up with some of our favorite British television shows... which we personally think would look great with a little Roger Oates set design makeover.

Some of our readers might be too young to remember this hilarious 90’s sitcom, Absolutely Fabulous, but it never disappointed in the laughs department. Patsy and Edina were about as loud and colorful as you get, so we have paired them with some of the most bold options in the Roger Oates collection. I think they’d be pleased!

I once heard someone describe The Great British Baking Show as being the television equivalent to taking a warm bath with a cup of hot tea. Now just add in a plate of pastel hued petit fours for a post bath snack and the coziness is complete! So naturally we are going to go big with our pastel mix for set design here.

A tried and true favorite around the Temple office, Fleabag feels modern, rebellious, and is obviously hilarious. This unpredictable show, filled with lots of plot twists and turns, had me thinking about the unexpected yet delightful pops of color in these ever so cool rugs.

Ah Peaky Blinders, ruthless gangs, bleak scenery, characters with grit… what’s not to love. It’s a bit hard to mindlessly watch which some might say is what makes it compelling. I can however mindlessly match it up with some handsome and graphically striking Roger Oates though!

Whether you’re a follower of the Royal Family or not, The Crown is worth checking out purely for the gorgeous and historically accurate costumes and seriously sumptuous set designs that span across six decades. I was of course inspired by the rich jewel tones of these rugs and couldn’t help but imagine them on a grand staircase in Buckingham Palace, and right at home among Royalty.
